DTLA Queer Art Experience

Visit two Queer exhibitions in one day with Tom of Finland Foundation!

Tom of Finland Foundation invites you to experience Queer art in our community with successive visits to DTLA’s Luis de Jesus and Institute of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.

Luis de Jesus presents Strings Attached: Queering Proximities, a group exhibition that “celebrates the diverse perspectives of artists engaging in multidisciplinary Queer strategies that expand on themes of relationality, empathy, intimacy, representation, subversion, and the Queer sublime.”

Artists: Amy Adler, John Brooks, Josh Cabello, Pui Tiffany Chow, Zackary Drucker, Rubén Esparza, Ken Gonzales-Day, Jonathan VanDyke, and Jwan Yosef.

Rubén Esparza and Zachary Drucker will speak with us about their featured works.

On view at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (ICA LA), [siccer] is an interdisciplinary project and immersive installation by artist and choreographer Will Rawls. Adopting the techniques and technologies associated with the cinema and the stage, Rawls’ [siccer] uses dance, stop-motion animation, and sound to investigate the role of media in documenting, exploiting, and erasing the Black body.

Senior curator Amanda Sroka will introduce and walk us through the exhibition.

The group will meet at Luis de Jesus at 11:00a and then reconvene at Institute of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles at a quarter past noon.

There is metered street parking available around the gallery and a few reserved spaces on Sacramento Street for those who need to park more closely to the entrance.

The closest Metro station is Pershing Square accessible by the B (red) and D (purple) lines. From there, the 60 or 62 bus drops off at Sante Fe/8tis ICAa three-minute walk from the gallery.
