It is also about an unbelievable level of persecution and hatred. Gays have been burned at the stake\, tortured\, imprisoned\, marginalized\, and persecuted.  \nThis is also the story of the struggle of the Gay community to overcome oppression and prejudice\, through talent and individual genius and in recent decades a powerful Civil Rights movement. Tom of Finland is is referenced in regards to the US government reclassifying Homosexuality as no longer a disease. \n \n\n\nMy mother is the famous choreographer Gloria Contreras\, director of the Taller Coreográfico de la UNAM\, I grew up surrounded by designers and dancers\, many of them Gay\, they were surrogate father figures for me. Particularly painful was the devastating loss of life during the AIDS epidemic in the 1980s and ’90s. I saw people l loved\, in the flower of their youth\, age prematurely and die. This presentation is a tribute to those who did not make it and an inspiration for the Gay youth of the future.  \n\nGregorio Luke is an expert on Mexican and Latin American art and culture.
