Tom of Finland Foundation is based in loving support for one another. As a nonprofit entity we use our funds to accomplish our many objectives. Tom of Finland Foundation is an archive, an Artist-in-Residence program, a gallery, a library, a historical-cultural monument and most importantly serves as a gathering space. For years we have opened our gates for people to step into a world where you can feel comfortable being whoever you want to be and express yourself, imagine…

We need your support in order to get the funds to achieve this.

Tom of Finland has always welcomed people both in his artwork and into his community. Tom was one of the first people to draw interracial sexual scenarios and has always expanded the bounds of his drawings. When the AIDS crisis hit, Tom felt hugely responsible for the impact on the community. He turned around and started incorporating safer and healthier sexual practices, like the wearing of condoms in his works. He also created drawings that commemorated those who unfortunately lost their lives in the battle. Tom has always been focused on building a strong community in this way and in others. When he and Durk Dehner created Tom of Finland Foundation in 1984, they quickly opened the doors to many other erotic artists, adding works to our collection. Tom and Durk and many others have worked over 35 years to help protect, preserve, document and educate the public about erotic art and erotic artists. The archives and library have become a shelter representing thousands of artists. Not only that, but now we continue to support erotic artists through both our residency program and our emerging artist contest. Volunteers have always been a huge part of our family, so that is always an option to contribute in that way, as well.

We have hosted art openings of Tom’s work around the world, mounted art openings from both emerging and more established artists, held many parties and celebrated our new freedom to become open as we are, love who we want, and share with one another. Tom of Finland Foundation keeps this spirit alive in so many ways and we hope that you will be a part of our world. Now more than ever we need your help to continue supporting this message and pushing onward. We can not go back to the way things once were, and supporting this Foundation helps us to continue forging ahead. We love you all so much and thank you so much – anything that you are able to give us helps.
