Meet James Davison, artist-in-residence

James Davison

James Davion is a Digital Artist who graduated from Central St Martins in 2006 with a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design. His work examines identity and human form through color and shape whilst exploring digital and analogue methodologies. Recent work includes poetry and sound creating immersive spaces with adult-themed fairytales. After working in New York he is now based in London and focuses on private and professional commissions including concept illustrations for music videos fashion campaigns and portraiture. Recent projects include a Versace campaign and personal projects with queer figures such as Jodie Harsh, Violet Chachki, and Troye Sivan. His work is well-known in the London queer community and has enjoyed a long relationship with The Glory  London’s biggest gay cabaret and performance venue illustrating their interiors and branding. James was a featured artist for Toms 100th Birthday for Attitude magazine. In 2016 James founded ‘SketchSesh’ a collaborative drawing project that works with queer artists and designers creating immersive drawing environments that respond to London’s queer creative output. ‘SketchSesh’ has held drawing sessions and workshops throughout Europe. Collaborators include Bimini Bon Boulash, A’Whora, The National Gallery (London) and London Fashion Week. James works as visiting lecturer at Central St Martins London College of Fashion and Middlesex University. With ‘SketchSesh’ he is a visiting practitioner at art institutions in the UK and Europe. He holds a formal PGCE teaching qualification in Design.
