MSC Finland – TOM’s Club’s 45th anniversary exhibition

The exhibition, Älä saapastele onnesi ohi!, features original works by Tom of Finland and Leekku for Prätkäposti, among others.

With Tom of Finland, Finnish fetish culture has become part of the international visual arts world. When talking about Tom of Finland’s production, the own narrative of the minority in the pictures is often forgotten, consciously or accidentally. The vanilla patriarchate, which represents mainstream culture, has had a great need to reshape the interpretation of Tom’s works, sometimes in a carnivalist direction, when to talk about his production as a tool for self-expression in the LGBTQI community on a more general level.

In this exhibition, Tom’s works are seen through the eyes of his own community. For MSC members, Tom’s works are a visual memory of the community.

As part of the exhibition at the Laikku Culture House, a panel discussion and exhibition guidance will be organized.
