TOM OF FINLAND Untitled, c.1966-1990

On the occasion of Tom of Finland’s birthday (8th May 1920), the Tom of Finland Foundation and The Community present AllTogether. The exhibition, supported by DIESEL, showcases the permanent collection of the Tom of Finland Foundation outside of Los Angeles for the first time. At Studio Cannaregio in Venice from 23rd April to 26th June 2022.

For over thirty years, the Tom of Finland Foundation has built the largest collection of LGBTQ + art in the world . Durk Dehner and Tom of Finland co-founded Tom of Finland Foundation in 1984 with the aim of best preserving and promoting Tom’s work. The Foundation’s role then extended to promoting and archiving the work of other queer artists.

AllTogether explores Tom of Finland Foundation’s collection, which consists of thousands of erotic artworks. It spans multiple decades and encompasses multiple media and techniques. Many of the show’s works address issues such as discrimination and false representations of the LGBTQ + community.

The works, which are usually seen hanging on the walls of the TOM House in Los Angeles, highlight the stories of the over seventy artists on display. AllTogether opens at Studio Cannaregio in Venice on 23rd April, coinciding with the opening weekend of the Venice Biennale. A second and different exhibition will open at The Community Center in Paris on 8th May. Both will be open to the public until 26th June. Overall, the two exhibitions include more than two hundred works of art from the 1940s to the present day.
