FCK–Frédérick Gautier presents erotic objects and photos created during his residency at TOM House. Tools to Eat explores the complex boundaries between what is considered provocative, voyeurism, and art.

Gautier has an almost fetishistic relationship with the ceramics he creates. His creations are resolutely simple; they are containers. They are not only aimed at ornamentation, but are both functional, imposing, robust and easy to handle. Objects are created to interact seamlessly with human touch, leathers and fibers. They are tools to feed themselves but also to reveal these fantasies, embodying an exploration of eroticism.

Over numerous photo sessions, models dressed as they seize ceramic pieces and pose themselves, transforming into accessories of a sensual game. Nonchalant postures, sparse scenes and athletic poses will stand out in the series of photographs developed during the residency. Subjects regard the contradictions caused by these erotic and functional objects, hiding areas of the body they depict. The structure of the body’s positions is transposed into these forms that serve both to feed itself and to bring the body closer to its own image. Gautier’s photography fully connects the action and fantasies that connect the subject to the photographed object, to the point of almost mixing them.
