Berlin-based artist Rinaldo Hopf was Tom of Finland Foundation’s Artist-in-Residence in the spring of 2017, during which he created a large orgy painting in homage to Tom of Finland entitled Pleasure Park. Painted with watercolors and ink on numerous large sheets of Chinese rice paper, the composition was then installed in the Drawing Room of TOM House.

The artist is now painting a mural in several separate frames on the outside of the House, based on the original orgy painting.  On Sunday he will unveil this new work.

This will also mark the latest book launch of My Gay Eye of which Rinaldo is one of the editors. Now in its 19th volume, this erotic yearbook containing pictures and texts by a large array of international Queer artists and writers has been an ongoing project of Rinaldo’s since 2003.

2018 saw a collaboration between My Gay Eye and Tom of Finland Foundation, another outcome of Rinaldo’s 2017 artist residency. This special volume is dedicated to the work of the Foundation, its huge art collection, and numerous activities. It was soon sold out. We will present a second, revised edition along with the latest volume #19, featuring celebrated French Queer pioneers like artist duo Pierre et Gilles, and 19th century poet rebels Arthur Rimbaud and Paul Verlaine.

Several of the authors and artists will be present at the book signing and reading, including Durk Dehner, Mark Hayward, Felice Picano, S.R. Sharp and Christopher Harrity.
