Since Hopf’s artistic beginnings in the 1980s, he has also collected the works of other artists. At the beginning it was mainly graphics of his role models and idols such as Pablo Picasso, Jean Cocteau and David Hockney, which he financed with my first own picture sales. As Hopf got to know more and more fellow artists over time, exchanging works of art became an option. This has been intensified by his work as co-editor of the anthology My Gay Eye for 20 years now. Through this exciting work Hopf has come into contact with literally hundreds of artists, photographers and authors from all over the world. Over the years, Hopf has created an extensive collection, focusing on the works of Queer artists. Hopf have always hung individual pictures in changing compositions in his Berlin apartment, but the works have never been shown in a larger context. That all changes now.
Artists include Pierre et Gilles, Will McBride, David Wojnarowicz, Felix Gonzales Torres, Andy Warhol, Tom of Finland, Jürgen Wittdorf, Johnny Abbate, Rick Castro, Martin von Ostrowski, Michael Alago, Mavado Charon, Daniel Schmude, Henning von Berg, Roland Berger, Matthias Herrmann, General Idea, Alberto de las Heras, Jürgen Baldiga, Rob Jurka, The Hun, Rosa von Praunheim, Markus Tiarks, Michael Bryntrup, Nigel Grimmer, Homo Riot / Brett McCall, Alexandre Haefeli, Salustiano, Georg Weise, Rüdiger Trautsch, Slava Mogutin, Greg Day, Ralf König, Etienne Zerah, Richard Kranzin, Jean Ulrick Désert, Martin E. Kautter, Ingo Taubhorn and more.
