PURUSHA Self-portrait, c.1981

Tom of Finland Foundation invites you to the final exhibition of Artist-in-Residence Sam Ashby. His new project, a film-in-progress exploring Queer spirituality and utopian sexualities through the figure of Purusha, monk, filmmaker and author of The Divine Androgyne (1981). Purusha’s book introduced his distinctive form of Gay spirituality and functioned as a guidebook to achieve “cosmic erotic ecstasy” and “androgyne body consciousness”.

The evening will include a presentation of the new project, a conversation between the artist and William E. Jones, and screenings of his previous films.
