How will you celebrate when you’re 100?

Finland became an independent state from Russia on 6th December 1917.

Finland’s centenary year 2017 has been a treasure chest of events emphasizing Finland’s strengths, such as equality and democracy, by offering Finns and friends of Finland a diverse and international programme both in Finland and abroad.

Finland has proudly included Tom of Finland (Touko Laaksonen, Finnish, 1920-1991) as part of its year-long celebrations with a hit musical; a world-acclaimed biopic; a booth at a big festival in Stockholm; a new Finnish edition of his biography and a book on his correspondence; an in-depth exhibition in Berlin and an insightful one-person show in his “home town”; a fun walking tour of Tom’s Helsinki; AND a national emoji!

Congratulations to Finland!
We’re all glad TOM is part of the party.
