“Art” is a word that encompasses a vast range of adventures in the senses. Here at Foundation my responsibilities focus on the visual arts, especially art on paper and photographs of art and artists.

The bedrock of my work is an optical scanner. It allows the transformation of a “real world” piece of art subject to the corruption of time to a more ageless digital realm. Of course it is not quite the same as viewing originals touched by the artists themselves, but with today’s technologies you can almost feel the texture of the paper, albeit not the aura. The files created this way can be shared without endangering the original works. It also acts as a permanent record for artwork that passes through our hands.

Our ten year old scanner went in for diagnostics and sadly it had to be replaced. The new flatbed unit was made possible by donations from David Bohnett Foundation and Michaeljohn Horne who believe, as we do, that Queer art is a part of humanity’s history worthy of preserving.
