Keep Your Timber Limber, ICA – exhibition review

From the Forties, Touko Laaksonen, known as Tom of Finland, created his images of the sexual exploits of musclebound uniform-clad men as fantasies for himself but what began as personal porn became celebrated in the gay community and more widely because they showed what Laaksonen described as “proud men having happy sex”.  –BEN LUKE

This tightly curated and thought-provoking exhibition looks at how drawing, far from being subordinate to grander disciplines, can address social and political themes with power. Sexual politics dominate and penises feature heavily.
