Meet Ed Firth, artist-in-residence
31st October 2024, 4:28 pm
“My time at TOM House is for reflection, incubation and pure practise, as free as possible from duty and administration, a chance to exist as an artist without the obligations of daily home life. My intention is to create a body of work distinct to this moment in my life, drawing on the surrounding architecture, flora and fauna, and the people who cross the threshold of TOM House. I’m feeling myself turn a corner in my personal development as my practise breaks new ground.” – Ed Firth
Ed Firth is the portrait artist behind the zine cycle Pound Shop, which just this year was compiled into a hardback art monograph. In recent years, Firth has moved into small press graphic novels, producing two volumes in a series now being published in the USA plus a German language translation. Firth has exhibited prints in solo shows in London, Liverpool and Edinburgh, UK, and last year at the Tom of Finland Art & Culture Festival. Firth’s work is in the permanent collections of the Walker Gallery, Liverpool, and the British Library Archives.
Welcome, Ed!
