Tom of Finland Foundation’s Durk Dehner, Knight of the Order of the Lion of Finland

At the private opening of Kiasma’s Tom of Finland exhibition on Wednesday, Durk Dehner was presented with the Finnish Order of the Lion.

The mood was certainly festive when Tom of Finland Foundation Cofounder Durk Dehner received the “Knight of the Order of the Lion of Finland” title at the private opening of the National Gallery Kiasma’s large Tom of Finland exhibition in Helsinki.

He is praised by the Finnish president and the country for his efforts to preserve and spread knowledge about “one of our foremost artists”, as Susanna Luoto put it when she attached the cross of the order to Dehner’s leather jacket on site in Kiasma.

Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin was also present, as well as a large contingent of the Finnish cultural elite.
