Actor Olli Rahkonen happily jumps into the shoes of Tom of Finland in Hämeenlinna

The musical tells the story of Touko Laaksonen’s journey to become Tom of Finland. His courage created Tom of Finland, the Leatherman, and gave millions of people the right to breathe and love.

Actor Olli Rahkonen will once again play Tom in the musical Tom of Finland in Hämeenlinna. The musical will premiere in the Vanaja Hall, Verkatehdas in September 2026.

The role is familiar to Rahkonen, as he first performed it at the Turku City Theatre when the musical premiered in January 2017. “I’m really excited to be in the lead role of the musical for the second time. It feels really good”, Rahkonen rejoices.

Rahkonen believes that the Tom of Finland musical is important right now, because we are living in bleak times. “It feels like we have taken many steps backwards on the path of intolerance. I hope people will learn joy and tolerance from this musical.” he says.

“Rehearsals for the Tom of Finland musical will begin in Hämeenlinna in the spring. I am looking forward to them, as I was last on stage in 2022″, Rahkonen says.

The Tom of Finland musical features many familiar names from TV and movies.
