Back by popular demand, returning Tom of Finland Foundation Artist-in-Residence Oat Montien debuts a new body of work next Friday 5th January from 7-10p. Entitled Desert Lasso and Other Adventures of the Gay Asian Cowboy, this series of artworks uses the artist’s father’s fascination with the American West as a jumping off point. In vivid color, Montien explores Shibari and other forms of bondage, incorporating themes of grief and trust, while drawing on his own South East Asian identity to create a new archetype of the cowboy.
