HGZ Gallery presents “Las Trece Vidas de Rick Castro”, the first solo exhibition in Mexico by the legendary American photographer, Castro has photographed contrasting figures such as actor Guillermo Díaz, writer Gore Vidal, performance artist Ron Athey, model Tony Ward, director Kenneth Anger, and even the 14th Dalai Lama himself. Through his photography he has worked along with mayor fashion houses like Dior Homme, Cartier, and Rick Owens. As if this wasn’t enough his MTV documentary Plushies & Furries (2001) was critically acclaimed.

Castro explores fetish subculture and BDSM. He has spent thirty-eight years (and counting) proudly documenting lust and homoerotic longing. With his work being part of the collection of institutions such as the Alfred Kinsey Institute, UCLA, and the Leslie/Lohman Museum, Castro has secured a place in art history. He currently lives and works in East Hollywood, where he documents his days on his blog and on his social media.
