Exclusive tour of the Getty’s “GUSTAVE CAILLEBOTTE: Painting Men”

On Saturday 3rd May, Tom of Finland Foundation members joined Ignacio Darnaude (@breakingthegaycodeinart) on an insightful, cheeky, and thought-provoking tour through Gustave Caillbotte: Painting Men at the Getty Museum. Darnaude’s expert knowledge of Caillbotte’s life and work provided members with a richer, contextualized understanding of the artist’s contributions to the Impressionist movement, and how his paintings of men subverted the genre and pushed cultural boundaries in 19th century French society.

Painting Men is presented by the Getty in collaboration with the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Musée d’Orsay, Paris and is showing at the Getty through 25th May 2025.
