Happy Women’s Equality Day!

TOM OF FINLAND Untitled (preparatory drawing)

Today, Tom of Finland Foundation is proud to celebrate Women’s Equality Day. Originally recognized by the United States Congress in 1973, Women’s Equality Day commemorates the passage of the 19th Amendment in 1920, which affirmed the right for women to vote.

Tom’s native Finland has a strong tradition of gender parity. However it may be a surprise that Tom occasionally drew women, often as lascivious as the men in his drawings.

Today we honor the women of America, Finland, and everywhere. Happy Women’s Equality Day!
