“I did my residency in 2016 and wrote a book called How to be a Faggot, which was my coming-of-age story in an erotic space. [While there,] I had created a feature narrative, the proof of concept of which ended up connecting me to my executive producer. So I went down this path of documentary…realizing there isn’t a good document of this space and of this experience. And because I had access to the house and to the people living there, I just started developing it.” – Jamison Rockmore, on how the documentary came to be
House of Leather follows two Queer artists from Asia and a Trans artist from Michigan visiting for summer residencies at the bohemian commune where famed erotic artist Tom of Finland lived and worked.
