It’s our history | 2016 | Celebrating Tom on his 96th birthday

At Taidehalli in Helsinki for the exhibition TOM OF FINLAND The Pleasure of Play.

The Out ’n loud choir sings “Vihmalintu” by Touko Laaksonen.

Tom was born Touko Laaksonen in 1920 and studied piano and composition at the Sibelius Academy.
At the Turku Academy, when the song was first sung in concert,
Tom was presented with flowers and the audience applauded enthusiastically. 
It was recorded in 1949 by the mixed choir Sleigh Bells, led by Tom’s father, Edvin.
