Carlos Enfedaque is a Berlin-based painter from Zaragoza, Spain. Born in 1994, he studied Fine Arts at the University of Zaragoza, ARCA–EUAC University of Arts in Coimbra (Portugal), and the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, San Carlos (Spain), where he graduated in 2016. After completing his Master’s degree in 2018, he moved to Berlin, where he has been based ever since.

His work has been exhibited at venues such as SETAREH Berlin; Swinton Gallery and Galería Nueva in Madrid; Las Naves – Centro de Creación Contemporánea in Valencia; and the MEAM Museum in Barcelona. He was awarded the Collezione MU.RO Prize at The Others Art Fair in Turin, Italy.
Enfedaque has participated in several artist residency programs, including the Tom of Finland Foundation in Los Angeles, USA, and Un Lugar by Manrique in Madrid, Spain.

His work is included in public and private collections such as Tom of Finland Foundation (Los Angeles, USA), the Thomas Marco Steinle Collection (Berlin, Germany), the Francesco Sghirripa Collection (Milan, Italy), MU.RO Collezione (Italy), the Arthur van Schendel Collection (Amsterdam, Netherlands), the Kevin Comer Collection (Palm Springs, USA), and the Alexis Alex Borges Collection (Los Angeles, USA).

“My practice centers on the human figure and portrait painting as a means to reflect on concepts of self, identity, and gender, and to explore how these can be questioned and reimagined. Painting allows me to present open-ended narratives, hidden messages, and unresolved moments that invite the viewer to ask questions rather than seek answers.

Although my work is figurative, I often deconstruct the motif through shifts in tone, light, and color. I allow light to guide the composition, transforming bodies and elements until the image transcends its subject and enters a space of ambiguity.

Through my work, I aim to expand the visual imaginaries associated with Queer intimacy, proposing representations I longed to see growing up as a Queer person. By creating a visual language that engages with identity, love, and sexuality, I seek to question the boundaries between intimacy and publicity, affection and violence, and figuration and abstraction.”
