Tom of Finland Foundation appoints Brooke Wise as Chief Curator

6th November 2025, 12:59 pm

Brooke Wise will lead the Foundation’s curatorial vision, exhibitions, and artistic programming internationally. Following an ongoing relationship with the Foundation across exhibitions and creative initiatives, Wise now steps into the position to shape curatorial strategy and oversee the Foundation’s curatorial output across all platforms and initiatives.

An independent curator with an established international practice, Wise has developed exhibitions, film programs, and cultural initiatives across galleries, public programs, philanthropic projects, and cross-industry collaborations. Her curatorial approach bridges contemporary art with archival and historical material, and is anchored in elevating underrepresented and marginalized voices while advocating for artistic freedom and resisting censorship—a core value aligned with the Foundation’s mission. She is recognized for a cross-disciplinary sensibility that merges subversion, humor, and community-driven impact to create accessible and culturally resonant experiences.

As Chief Curator, Wise will define the Foundation’s artistic direction and oversee all curatorial programming — including exhibitions, public programs, publishing initiatives, and artist-facing projects—ensuring a cohesive curatorial vision across the Foundation’s activities. She will shape new frameworks for audience engagement and develop inventive platforms that center artistic freedom and position erotic art within broader conversations on expression, visibility, and cultural progress. Wise will serve as the central curatorial lead for the Foundation, with all exhibitions and curatorial initiatives developed under her direction to ensure alignment with the Foundation’s artistic vision.

Wise previously worked at Artsy, where she helped spearhead artist-led charitable auctions supporting 501(c)(3) organizations. She is the creator of The Fine Art Quarantine Coloring Book (benefiting COVID-19 relief efforts) and Aloha From Hell, an annual horror-adjacent short-film festival supporting Planned Parenthood. She has curated exhibitions across the U.S. and abroad, including at The Hole (New York), and her projects have been featured in Vogue, Los Angeles Times, i-D, Dazed, Playboy, Paper, Artillery, and other leading publications.

Her appointment marks a new chapter in the Foundation’s evolution—one that honors Tom of Finland’s legacy while advancing a bold, anti-censorship, artist-forward vision for contemporary culture today.
