TOM OF FINLAND Untitled, 1976, Graphite on paper, 16.63” x 11.50” © 1976 Tom of Finland Foundation. Commissioned by Harald Tangermann and Peter Daun for Toms Saloon.
“For more than 30 years, Tom’s Saloon has been part of Hamburg’s St. Georg district, and from the very beginning, Tom of Finland has been at the club’s heart. Tom was a close friend of my late partner Harald Tangermann, dating from his exhibition in Hamburg in 1973—his very first show in Germany—when all the originals were stolen. What a scandal! Just one year after the ill-fated show Harald and Peter opened Tom’s Saloon as a gathering place for Leathermen who admired the lifestyle portrayed in Tom’s art.”
