Pol Anglada

“During my time at TOM House, I hope to delve into the sparse industrial landscapes of Los Angeles, romanticizing and adding a suggestive narrative to those negative spaces, taking inspiration from Bret Easton Ellis’ Less than Zero and Gregg Araki’s Nowhere. I hope to accomplish a number of projects, including a series of gouache paintings, large scale pencil drawings, and a little something to leave behind at TOM House.” – Pol Anglada

Pol Anglada (b. 1991) is from a small town in Spain near the Catalan Pyrenees. Anglada discovered his passion for drawing through his father’s old comics, immersing himself in the style of Milo Manra, Tanino Liberatore, Enki Bilal. Later in his teens he found the work of Tom of Finland and various other homoerotic illustrations.

Anglada moved to Paris to pursue a career in fashion, continuing his illustration in his spare time. While working as fashion designer, Anglada founded FreeTime in 2016 with Parisian studio Faye and Gina; dedicated to celebrating spare time, FreeTime produced zines, screen prints and shirts presented annually at the Paris Ass Book Fair, a leading Queer zine festival.

Outside of FreeTime, Anglada’s illustrations began to appear in a variety of media. He collaborated on capsule collections and prints for fashion brands such as Moncler, JW Anderson, Phipps, and Ami, worked with musicians like Bad Gyal and John Carroll Kirby, and created artwork for magazines such as Gay Letter, Butt, Têtu, Kink, and more.

Anglada’s first exhibition in Los Angeles, Hole (2022), brought him closer to Tom of Finland Foundation, which resulted in his participation in the Tom of Finland Art & Culture Festival in London later that year.

Anglada’s style stems from voyeurism, being both a spectator and a participant who finishes the scene in their mind, embodying subversive themes of masculinity and vulnerability.

Benvingut, Pol!
